USS ''Music'' (SP-1288) was a United States Navy patrol vessel in commission from 1917 to 1918. ''Music'' was built as a civilian motor launch of the same name in either 1880〔(SP-1288 ''Music'' at Department of the Navy Naval History and Heritage Command Online Library of Selected Images: U.S. Navy Ships: -- Listed by Hull Number: "SP" #s and "ID" #s -- World War I Era Patrol Vessel and other Acquired Ships and Craft numbered from SP-1200 through SP-1299 ).〕 or 1914〔''Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships'' at http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/m16/music.htm and (NavSource Online: Section Patrol Craft Photo Archive Music (SP 1288) ).〕 by the Chance Marine Construction Company at Annapolis, Maryland. On 17 August 1917, the U.S. Navy acquired her from her owner, the Conservation Commission of Maryland, for use as a section patrol boat during World War I. She was commissioned as USS ''Music'' (SP-1288) the same day. Assigned to the 5th Naval District, ''Music'' served on patrol and inspection duties in Hampton Roads and on the Elizabeth River in Virginia during World War I. The Navy returned ''Music'' to the Conservation Commission on 24 September 1918. ==Notes==
